Vastu Shastra (vāstu śāstra, also Vastu Veda, "science" of construction", "architecture" is a traditional Hindu system of design based on directional alignments. It is primarily applied in Hindu architecture, especially for Hindu temples, although it covers other applications, including poetry, dance, sculpture, etc. The foundation of Vastu is traditionally ascribed to the mythical sage Mamun Mayan.

Vastu Shastra deals with the exercise of architecture and construction or building science and in fact it gives a fair touch in every aspects of life on the earth as well as the universe. The basic theme remains a link that is ever-present between the man and cosmos. The word 'Vastu' was originated from the term 'VASTOSHPATI' which had its usage in the Rig Veda and is said to render happiness, prosperity and protection in life and after death too. However, Vastu Shastra truly conceives in the presence of Vastu Purush, who is considered the main deity of a building.

India is considered the mother of Vastu as the ancient saints have formulated various principles of it. It was written nearly thousand years ago where the sages kept in their minds the results of sunlight and energy and stabilizing all the nature's five elements in such a way to get the maximum advantage out of it. In India, it evolved around 5000 years ago and is considered a super science whereas the origin of Chinese Feng Shui was 3500-4500 years ago.

Vastu Shastra is a science of directions and is a study that acquires an entire command over the cognition of directions. In fact, there are actually eight directions namely, northeast, north, southeast, east, southwest, south, northwest and west. It is entirely an Indian science of architecture and space and how environments and spaces are created supporting the spiritual and physical prosperity and health. This had evolved in India during the Vedic times and the concepts of Vastu Shastra were transmitted to South East Asia, Tibet and ultimately to Japan and China where the developmental base of Feng-shui originated.

Five elements

According to vastu sastra, the world comprises five basic elements known as the pancha maha bhoota. Out of the eight planets, ours has life because of the presence and balance of these five elements. The five elements are as follows.
EARTH (Bhumi) - Earth, the third planet in order from the sun, is a big magnet with North and South poles as centers of attractions. Its magnetic field and gravitational force has considerable effects on everything on the Earth, living and non-living.
WATER (Jala) - This is represented by rain, river, sea and is in the form of liquid, solid (ice) and gas (steam, cloud). It forms part of every plant and animal. Our blood is nothing but water with haemoglobin and oxygen.
AIR (Vayu) - As a life supporting element, air is a very powerful life source. Human physical comfort values are directly and sensitively dependent on correct humidity, air flow, temperature of air, air pressure, air composition and its content.
FIRE (Agni) - Represents light and heat which account for day, night, the seasons, energy, enthusiasm, passion and vigour.
SPACE (Akasha) - The akasha provides shelter to all the above elements. It is also considered the primary conductor of all energy sources within the universal context - physical energies such as sound and light, social energies such as psychological and emotional, and cognitive energies such as intellect and intuition.
There is an invisible and constant relation between all the five elements. Thus, the person can improve their conditions by properly designing their buildings by understanding the effectiveness of these five natural forces. Vaastu sastra combines all the five elements of nature and balances them with the person and the material. It takes advantage of the benefits bestowed by the five elements of nature to create a congenial living and working environment thereby facilitating spiritual well-being and paving the way for enhanced health, wealth, prosperity and happiness.
Home Vastu -Vastu for home is the most important place for a living being on this earth. Every body needs a home and that´s why. We can say that environment of the internal and external vastu of a house have all way impact on the person living in that place.

All the four directions North, East, South and West signifies the effect of their planets on the people. Peace, progress and prosperity of a person of family depends on the fact how all the five elements of vastu and all directions of the universe are captured while building a home.

Home Vastu principles are applied on home drawing, main entrance, windows, water source, electricity source, stairs, bedrooms, drawing room, kitchen, doors so every part of the house should be well placed according to vastu.

Slopes of floor and elevation of house can impact the fate of people. First of all choose the place for constructing a house is the most important as where it is situated on rood, where it has road thurst, what is its neighburhood any pole, heavy tree or tower
